HELP SAVE THE OC DIAPER BANK & CLOSE THE DIAPER GAP PROGRAMS DURING NATIONAL DIAPER NEED AWARENESS WEEK: 9/25-10/1

Our Story:
Every organization at some point will face a ‘Break it or Make it’ moment.  Since the first day of Clear Charity in 2014, we have focused on being streamlined and efficient.  We were born in the digital / internet age and we took advantage of that by performing  the majority of our operations online.  But when we became the ONLY Secular Diaper Gap Program in Southern California (last time we checked), everything changed.

We started small but have grown exponentially since May 2016 when we opened for our first Diaper Hour.  We started with 2,000 diapers a month to now requiring 30,000 diapers to be available on hand at any given moment as we distribute 7,000+ diapers a week to families.  The families that come see us are predominantly low-income and come from all over Southern California, including San Bernardino and LA Counties, but our reach has extended as far as North Carolina.

While we only modestly promoted our programs, news spread via word of mouth.  We are now posted in various social support networks, including WIC offices, 211 Directory, school districts, and CHOC  and St. Jude hospitals.  We have been keeping pace with the increase in demand, but a recent change has forced us to reach out for help.

Why We’re In Trouble:
Clear Charity’s ‘OC Diaper Bank & Close the Diaper Gap’ programs were made possible by many different supporters.  One of which was the previous building owner of our location who gave us a discount on our rent.  However, with our new property management who took over this year, our rent has increased by 45%, which has priced us out of our current space, and we now need support from our community to continue our programs in a new location.
