Got a great idea? Want to help people?
Let us be your Fiscal Sponsor.
Being a nonprofit organization is not a simple task. Anyone who ever ran their own business can tell you that running a business takes a lot of work. And we’re not talking about doing the work you’re expected to do. No, we’re referring to all the extra, miscellaneous paperwork that goes with owning a business. And if you’re a non-profit organization, that paperwork burden triples due to all the regulations & requirements.
If you or your group have a great idea, project, or fundraiser you’d like to do AND wants all the benefits of real charity organization without costing an arm and a leg, consider a fiscal sponsorship from Clear Charity.
Q. What is a fiscal sponsorship?
Fiscal sponsorship is a formal arrangement between a 501(c)(3) charity sponsor and another group who wanted to run a charity activity/project but lack 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. If you’re just starting up or looking to do a project or two, this is a great way to accomplish the good with maximum benefits!
Q. Why do I need a fiscal sponsorship?
If you just want to raise money or do a fundraiser to help someone, you technically don’t need one. But having a fiscal sponsorship may allows you to do more. For example, if you are requesting companies or local stores to help you or sponsor you, they might want you to have 501(c)(3). While they may be willing to help even without 501(c)(3), they may be willing to help more if you have one. This is because if they can get a tax exempt receipt from you, it benefits their tax return, saving them money. It’s simple as that. Many companies and stores want to be a part of helping their community. It’s a good marketing for them. But they also want to get all the benefits too, like tax credit. That’s not all. If you have 501(c)(3) status, you can also provide personal donors with receipt they can use on their personal tax return!
Lastly, if you are looking for a big sponsor and/or applying for a grant, 501(c)(3) is a requirement.
But it’s so expensive and complicated…
Before Clear Charity was born, I did research on fiscal sponsorship also because it was suggested to me as an easier way to get things started. But most fiscal sponsor had strict limits, long interview process, and charged average of 20~40% of admin fee. I felt like that was a bit too much.
So how’s Clear Charity any different?
Unlike many of those organization whose main business model is to be a fiscal sponsorship and rely on income from those sponsorship, we are a community organization who are active in our community with our own programs. Our fiscal sponsorship program is purely motivated by desire to help you reach your goal.
Our approach is simple. As long as your program/goal qualifies for 501(c)(3) and agrees with general direction of Clear Charity, you’ll be accepted. We will be required to set up a phone interview to get to know you as well. However, the whole process will be quick and easy. Once you’re accepted, we’ll help you with you setup your program and get things started. We want you to be successful.
What would be the fee for having a sponsorship with Clear Charity?
Clear Charity’s sponsorship cost is up for negotiation. We will be selective on who we work with and you should be too. Typically, however, we would charge only 10%. Actual cost will be determined based on your goal, proximity with our projects and what you are planning. And we’ll do more than just paperwork. We intend to help your promotion as well. Here are things this fee will cover.
– Admin cost to run your project project
